New Offerings for the Digital Economy Include Portfolio of IoT Solutions, Talent Management, and Online Purchase Experience

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – 17 June 2015 — SAP has launched the SAP HANA Cloud Platform for the Internet of Things (IoT), helping customers gain operational efficiencies and drive the creation of new revenue models, products and services, the company announced at its recent SAPPHIRE® NOW event.

Digital commerce and consumption are pervasive among individuals – from songs and books all the way up to online purchases of cars and houses in some countries. The Digital Economy will continue to grow in line with the Internet of Things era, which will see connected devices growing from 9 billion now to at least 50 billion in 2020, and creating USD 14.4 trillion in total value at stake, according to a report by SAP and Stephenson Strategies.

Demonstrating the demand for solutions in the Digital Economy, according to McKinsey & Company, businesses that embrace digital transformations could see increased revenue as much as 30 percent.

Enabling businesses to securely tap into a network of millions of connected devices, SAP has released the HANA Cloud Platform for the IoT, with IoT services from SAP planning to support the cost-efficient and quick development, deployment and operation of SAP solutions for IoT. Private cloud deployments intend to enable SAP customers to run their own device cloud or to operate a device cloud for their customers.

“The Middle East is seeing strong uptake of cloud and IoT services, especially with the growth in Smart Cities and connected lives, offices, and industries,” said Hannes Liebe, COO, SAP Middle East and North Africa. “With the launch of SAP HANA Cloud Platform for the Internet of Things, our customers and partners now have the ability to connect anything to any app or business process in their company and business network. This will achieve operational excellence and deliver new customer experiences, products and services.”

SAP now offers a portfolio of IoT applications such as the SAP Connected Assets solution, including the cloud edition of the SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service solution, and SAP Connected Logistics software, among others that leverage SAP HANA Cloud Platform for the IoT.
Google and SAP are also working to combine the trusted data discovery and visualization of the SAP Lumira solution with the sharing and collaboration capabilities of Google docs, allowing customers to access, transform and combine Google sheets with enterprise data through the SAP Lumira extensions framework to deliver compelling visualizations, dashboards and insights in SAP Lumira.

SAP, IBM Join Forces to Transform Talent Management
Leveraging their existing global strategic alliance, SAP and IBM announced cloud-to-cloud integrations of the two companies’ industry-leading human resources software and services. The product integrations are expected to help customers improve their business processes and make fact-based decisions more smoothly and simply about how they recruit and manage their workforces.

The first offering from this alliance includes a planned integration between the SuccessFactors® Employee Central solution and IBM Kenexa’s cloud-based HR software Talent Acquisition Suite. This integration is expected to enable IBM customers to move their Human Resources information systems (HRIS) to the cloud with the leading core Human Resources solution from SuccessFactors, an SAP company, while helping to protect their recruiting investments, and provide customers of SuccessFactors Employee Central with a broader set of options for recruiting, assessment and onboarding of candidates.

SAP Digital Brings Run Simple Vision to Life
In keeping with the SAPPHIRE NOW theme to reimagine business to Run Simple, SAP also announced new digitally native offerings, built for immediate personal consumption via a new online purchase experience. Individuals, across large and small organizations, can now buy from SAP without the need for a purchase order, invoice or lengthy RFP process.
